Aeda’s Angels are looking for a Childminding Assistant to gain and develop new skills and experiences, whilst working towards the Intermediate Apprenticeship for the Early Years Practitioner

Duties will include:

Assist in all childminding related daily duties
Assist where necessary in preparing the premises for the arrival of children e.g. health and safety checks, general cleaning
Be friendly, approachable and professional to parents/carers who visit and who drop/collect their children
Assist in planning and setting out of equipment to meet children’s current interests
Play under supervision alongside the children, to observe their play and development and to make notes on daily record sheets
Assist tidying up during and after play activities where necessary
Keep children safe
Assist with snack and mealtime preparation and serving
Assist with meeting all the individual needs of the children being cared for
Be aware of and to follow published policies at all times

Apprenticeships are delivered in the workplace and 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to ‘off the job training’. You will be allocated a Teaching & Learning Co-ordinator (TLC) and will have access to our online study area where you will find all your study materials. Your TLC will provide you with personal tutorial support and on-programme assessment at pre-arranged times.

End point assessment by an independent assessment organisation and comprises of two activities – knowledge test and portfolio-based professional discussion.

You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard (Knowledge and Understanding, Skills and Behaviours).

You must complete the following approved qualifications mandated in the standard:

NCFE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
English and maths Functional Skills Level 1 (if not already achieved)
Where Level 1 has been achieved (GCSE Grade 2-3 or equivalent) you will work towards and take the test for Level 2 Functional Skills.
