Vacancy Description

  • Provide high standards of quality within the setting including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
  • Presenting appropriate activities for the child’s development and next steps in learning.
  • Observe, support and extend children’s learning and progress
  • Plan appropriately for the EYFS and ensure rich and diverse outdoor play experiences are offered.
  • Maintain accurate and effective children’s records.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members making them feel welcome whenever then enter the setting.
  • Demonstrate good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion.
  • Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and when necessary follow, Child Protection and Safeguarding Procedures.
  • Have a good understanding of British Values and Prevent Duty.
  • Ensure the nutritional needs of the children are met and Food Safety Regulations are complied with.
  • Comply with the statutory framework for the EYFS and relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
  • Learn about current developments in childcare and education policy and practice.
  • Be a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families.
  • Positive management of children’s behaviour.

Monday to Friday, Hours between 7am and 6.30pm Between 30 and 43 hours a week including all onsite training and meetings. 20% of the hours will be dedicated to off the job training.

Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

Apprenticeships are delivered in the workplace and 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to ‘off the job training’. You will be allocated a Teaching and Learning Co-ordinator (TLC) and will have access to our online study area where you will find all your study materials. Your TLC will provide you with personal tutorial support and on-programme assessment at pre-arranged times.

End point assessment by an independent assessment organisation and comprises of two activities – knowledge test and portfolio-based professional discussion.

You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard (Knowledge and Understanding, Skills and Behaviours).

You must complete the following approved qualifications mandated in the standard:

  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
  • English and maths Level 2 (if not already achieved)
  • Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator

Qualifications required:

You must hold a Level 2 Childcare qualification or relevant experience in a childcare setting (minimum 9 months) to apply for this position.

GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English would be an advantage

  • Successful candidates will have a lot of patience.

Future Prospects:

Achievement of the Advanced Apprenticeship will enable apprentices to access higher level jobs within the wider childcare sector, e.g. Room Leader, Nursery Supervisor or Nursery Manager.

There is also opportunity for apprentices to go on to further study at higher levels, particularly working towards Levels 4 and 5 Foundation Degrees in Early Years.
