If your organisation does not pay into the Apprenticeship Levy, Apprenticeship funding is broken down across the following age groups:
|Apprentice is aged 16-18*||
If the employer has less than 50 employees the apprentice is fully Government funded (including 19-24 year olds with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan).
If the employer has more than 50 employees the apprentice is co-funded. The employer must make a 5% contribution to the cost of training directly to the training provider.
All apprentices aged 16-18 attract a £1,000 employer incentive payable in installments at 3 and 12 month intervals.
|Apprentice is aged 19+*||Apprentice is co-funded. The employer must make a 5% contribution to the cost of training directly to the training provider.
|Apprentice has a level 4 or higher*||The Government will co-fund learners with a level 4 or higher qualification to work towards a lower level Apprenticeship if this
allows the individual to acquire substantive new skills and the content of the training is
materially different from any prior training or a previous apprenticeship.
*To be eligible for an Apprenticeship learners should usually be in paid employment working 30 hours or more.
If none of the above applies learners can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.
